How Does the Procedure Work?

The goal of the surgery is to change the shape of the cornea so it can focus images better and allow you to see clearer. It is achieved using two lasers. The surgeon uses a femtosecond laser to create a flap in the cornea. The flap is folded back and then the surgeon uses a laser with ultraviolet beams to remove a small amount of tissue from the cornea to reshape it. The flap is placed back and the cornea is then given time to heal.

What Is the Recovery Window?

You will be able to leave the same day as the procedure but you will need a friend to drive you home. You will have a few follow-up visits with your eye doctor to make sure your eyes are healing properly. You will need to avoid strenuous exercise for a week after surgery.

When Do You See Results from LASIK Eye Surgery?

Immediately after the procedure, you should start to see things from a distance that you didn’t see before. Your eyes can be hazy and fuzzy at first but should start to improve within the first few days. After four to six hours, you will start to feel comfortable with your vision and it is even better by the next day.
